Looking for something to do away from the Strip? Maybe some shopping or something more appropriate for the family? Below are some great options you might want to consider when the gambling has lost it's pizzazz.
Most of the locations on this list are on the east side of Highway 15,
near Green Vallay and Henderson. They are easily accessible via Hwy 215
(Las Vegas Beltway) and generally no more than a few minutes drive from
any Strip Casino. That is, 15 minutes once you escape the Strip, if
that happens to be where you are staying. Perhaps you've never heard of
Las Vegas vacation home rentals? We'll save that for another story. :)
The Green Valley Ranch
Only a 10 minute drive from any of our vacation homes, is The Green Valley Ranch, home of the Discovery Channel's "American Casino" reality series. The Green Valley Ranch has a beautiful and large casino, sports book, cinemas (6), excellent restaurants, entertainment, nightclubs, and frequently features top name artists at Whiskey Beach. We always have a good time here, and find it an excellent way to avoid the major strip crowds on Friday and Saturday nights. The casino still has $5 dollar tables, even on the weekends, and the ever hard to find penney slots.
Directions: Hwy 215 East to Green Valley Parkway exit. Turn right.
The District at Green Valley Ranch
We highly recommend The District for excellent upscale shopping and food. The District is part of the Green Valley Ranch property, and is comprised of shops, restaurants, in a unique outdoor setting. Free outdoor music performances on Friday and Saturday evenings.
While you are at The District, do not miss Lucille's BBQ for an awesome BBQ meal. This is the best we've had! Best bet at dinner time is to show up around 5:30 and pick up a pager to carry while you browse the shops for a while. The one is well worth the wait!

Las Vegas Outlet Center
5~7 minutes from any of our homes. 150+ discount shops of every kind, indoor and air conditioned.
Directions: Warm Springs Blvd. west to Las Vegas Blvd.
Lake Las Vegas
Golf, food, water and desert. The home of many local stars. Celine has her place here, in the form of a private island out on the lake. It's about a 30 minute drive to Lake Las Vegas, and nice to see if you have the time on your hands.
Directions: Hwy 215 East. Continue through Henderson to Lake Las Vegas turnoff.
